Who am I?
I’m an introvert with a background in accounting who takes frequent career breaks and loves to write.
What has my relationship with work/corporate life been like?
Since working my first 9-to-5 out of college, I knew that sitting at a desk all day was not the way I wanted to spend the next 30 years of my life. I left a stable job in government after three years when I decided that working under a toxic boss wasn’t worth it. I found a new job in public accounting after seven months and left after three months because I didn’t enjoy the work. Then, within two months, I found an office job that seemed to offer the balance I was looking for: part-time, 32 hours a week with Fridays off, and work that didn’t drain me.
Why did I leave my most recent job?
I left my recent job in October 2025 because I was overworked and underpaid. It was a role that I took for more work-life balance, but it ended up being extremely taxing on my physical and mental health. Most importantly, it killed my creative drive.
What happened after I left?
Leaving gave me the time and space to develop new skills and make money doing things I actually enjoyed. However, for me, doing what I love doesn’t yield the same financial results as what I have a degree in, so after eight months, I decided that it was time to let my creative side exist alongside stable employment.
When did I realize I wasn’t actually “healed” from corporate?
After two and a half months of applying with no offer, broken promises from recruiters, and anxiously waiting for updates each day, I realized I was experiencing the same level of burnout I felt when I left my job back in October.
Why did I create Healing from Corporate?
I created Healing from Corporate because, after my recent experience trying to secure another job, I realized that this hurts just as badly as heartbreak. It’s like being a pretty, educated girl who gets rejected by an equally handsome and educated guy she likes.
What will I write about here?
Here, I will write about my work and interview experiences in the corporate world as an introvert and neurodivergent person, how I’m taking my power back from the job search, and what’s next for me.
What this blog is not?
This isn’t an anti-corporate movement. If you love your corporate job, I am happy for you. There are many of us who have not had great experiences, though, and are looking for viable alternatives.
Who might feel at home reading this?
Introverts, neurodivergents, and creative souls might like it here.
Where am I now?
I am still figuring it out, one day at a time.
I am questioning why college was presented to me as the pathway to financial ease, when I am experiencing the complete opposite of that.
I am just questioning a lot right now.
